About Competition
WIRE Hospital Design Student Competition is a design competition by Women in Real Estate in conjunction with PCEA Chogoria Hospital. The objective of this design was to identify the best hospital design for PCEA CHOGORIA maternity wing. The competition was open to all students and graduate entries from either a team or an individual member with a built environment profession background. The competition was launched on July 10, 2019. Students and graduates were expected to go for a site visit to the hospital and later hand in their submissions on August 30, 2019
The awarding ceremony took place on October 18, 2019, at Kayana, CMS Africa. We had a total entry of 15 entries, 29 total participants, 12 male participants and 17 female participants.
The University of Nairobi had 12 entries, 6 were from the Technical University of Kenya, 7 from JKUAT, 2 from the national Institute of Technology and 2 from the University of Valladolid. The disciplines represented were, Architecture which had 22 entries, Environmental Design with 1 entry, Interior Design with 2 entries, Quantity Survey with 1 entry, Urban and regional planning 2 entries and lastly Construction management had 1 entry.
